Vallejo 2nd Friday Art Walk Celebrates our Local Artists and our Newly Installed Poet Laureates

Vallejo 2nd Friday Art Walk is proud to announce the upcoming Vallejo 2nd Friday Art Walk Exhibit, showcasing the vibrant creativity of our local Artists and honoring the recent installation of Vallejo’s two esteemed Poet Laureates. This eagerly anticipated event promises to be a celebration of artistic expression and community spirit.

One of the highlights of the event will be the presence of Vallejo’s newly installed Poet Laureates, Jacalyn Eyvonne and Kathleen Herrmann, whose contributions to the cultural landscape of our city are both inspiring and profound. Their words will intertwine with the visual art on display, creating a multi-sensory experience that reflects the richness of Vallejo’s creative spirit.

We are thrilled to showcase the incredible talent of Vallejo’s artists and to celebrate the appointment of our new Poet Laureates. This event is a testament to the power of art to unite and inspire, and we invite the entire community to join us in this celebration of creativity.

Poet Laureates Bios:
Jacalyn Eyvonne

Current co-poet laureate for the City of Vallejo, CA, with Kathleen Herrmann. She founded KidsNFilm Multimedia and is the founder/director of the Monologues and Poetry International Film Fest and the International KidsNFilm Festival. She is also the former North Bay Art and Film Festival board chair in Benicia, CA. Her work with youth has included environmental-themed projects such as “Trash” and “Dirty Water,” which addressed the issues of contaminated water in …. And throughout the country. A VTA, Vallejo Teaching Artist, she has worked with youth within the Valley City Unified School District through the VTA program on various production projects. She has produced many local access TV shows, including In The Company of Poets. Author of “I Am Not An Inconsequential Word – Poetry and Remnants, Venting To Verse-How To Turn Anger Into Poetry,” and “The Unyielding Weight of Words, Poems on Reflection, Healing, and Love, with work appearing in several anthologies. Jacalyn Eyvonne is an Academy of Art University graduate in Motion Picture and Television.

Kathleen Herrmann is proud to be serving as the Co-Poet Laureate of the City of Vallejo along with author, photographer, and film maker Jacalyn Eyvonne. Kathleen writes poems about small moments with big feelings. A retired elementary educator, she is currently teaching poetry units to Vallejo students as a Vallejo Teaching Artist. She has published nonfiction articles on topics ranging from parenting skills to home security. She is currently interviewing refugees and compiling their stories for her new book, I Was There, Now I’m Here. She performs poetry as a spoken word performer, including most recently, the 2023 Mad Hatter’s Festival, the 2024 MLK Celebrations, Winters LitFest2, A Conscious Celebration of Black History and Benicia’s Fiestas Primavera. Music is her twin passion. She currently sings in a local trio and plays piano, guitar and ukulele.
