Do you like to garden? Do you know how to mulch? Do you know how to build raised garden beds? Do you know how to build aquaponics tanks? Do you want to know how to do these things?
The Unity Garden in Vallejo is the home base for this pathway for the urban gardening program. Vallejo Project’s Unity Garden initiative, at 2160 Sacramento Street, represents a unique opportunity for community members, youth, and other stakeholders, to work at restoring an abandoned lot that was once filled with sand and garbage and turning it into a multi-level food forest with internationally influenced farming techniques.
Vallejo Unity Garden Transitional age youth as they work with the unhoused residents of the Christian Help Center to learn about best practices in urban agriculture, urban farming, and urban gardening. They practice cultivating, processing, and distributing food in or around the urban area of South Vallejo when there is more than the residents need.
