Vallejo SOUP is a microgranting potluck celebrating and empowering community projects in Vallejo. Each SOUP features a potluck at a unique venue in Vallejo, a local artist’s work, community project presentations, lively conversations, and democracy in action as the participants vote to fund their favorite community projects. Everyone is welcome at SOUP, at whatever price they can afford. Pay-what-you-can to attend as any donation (suggested $5-20) will help fund community projects in Vallejo.
During the event participants learn about four community projects. Each presenter has four minutes to share their idea and then answer four questions from the audience. While sharing the meal, participants have the opportunity to discuss which projects they think will most benefit the community before casting their votes. At the end of the night, we count the ballots and the presenters go home with all of the money raised to carry out their projects. Winners come back to a future SOUP to report their project’s progress.

POTLUCK PICNIC
SOUP is a potluck style meal and this one takes place in a garden. Please bring some food to share. Anything from soup, salad, dessert, to your favorite meal. Since we are eating in the garden please bring your own picnic gear: your own reusable plate, cup, silverware, lawn chairs, blankets, etc. If you bring a dish to share you receive 60 seconds to present to the audience on ANYTHING from the recipe to a song and dance to an idea or project in Vallejo.
