Vallejo Poetry Month Grand Finale: Vallejo Invitational

April is National Poetry Month, and we are celebrating with fantastic events!

Please join us Sunday, April 30th for the grand finale, The Vallejo Invitational, featuring:

Laura Walker is the author of six books of poetry: psalmbook, story, Follow-Haswed, bird book, rimertown/an atlas, and swarm lure. She is also the author of a chapbook, bird book. Her poetry has appeared in various journals, including New American Writing, VOLT, Ambush, Thermos, and Fact-Simile, among others. Since receiving her MFA from San Francisco State University (SFSU) in 2003, Laura has taught poetry at SFSU, University of San Francisco’s MFA in Writing program, and at UC Berkeley Extension.

Maw Shein Win is a Burmese American poet who lives and teaches in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was the inaugural Poet laureate of El Cerrito from 2016 to 2018 and is the author of Storage Unit for the Spirit House, Invisible Gifts: New and Selected Poems and the chapbook Score and Bone.

Katie Peterson is the Director of the Graduate Creative Writing Program at the University of California at Davis, where she is Professor of English and a Chancellor’s Fellow. She is the author of Life in a Field, This One Tree, Permission, The Accounts , and A Piece of Good News and editor of the New Selected Poems of Robert Lowell.

Hosted by Jeffrey Kingman, musician, writer, and Vallejo poet, is the author of On a Road and Beyond That Hill I Gather, two of Alibi Bookshop’s bestselling poetry books.
