Touro Demonstration Food Forest Installation Workshop

Touro Demonstration Food Forest Installation Workshop

Come join us at Touro University California for the first day of our exciting Food Forest Installation event! Get your hands dirty and help us create a food forest on the Vallejo campus. This installation workshop takes place over three days and each day we will focus on something new.

Sunday, March 10 from 10 am to 3 pm, we will create bioswales and mound in the garden space. Learn about the powerful ways landscapes can be designed to save and store water.

Sunday, March 17 from 10 am to 3 pm, participants will learn how to build healthy soil and manage weeds.

Sunday March 24, from 10 am to 3pm, we will focus on plant selection, optimum growing conditions and how to arrange a garden space.

This workshop will be lead by an experienced permaculture designer who will discuss the how- and why- of the Food Forest. This workshop will include digging, and moving dirt and wood chips. If you are curious about water-capture alternatives, general garden design, or are passionate about urban ag, please attend!

Meet us behind the “Admin and Faculty 2” building (or go to Lassen Hall’s main entrance and follow signs for “Sustainable Solano”)
