Speakers Series: Victoria Kastner: The Life of Julia Morgan - A Trailblazing Architect

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Mare Island Historical Park Foundation and Alibi Bookshop join forces to present a lecture on the noted architect Julia Morgan by author Victoria Kastner. This topic is especially relevant to our local community, given the many of Arts & Crafts structures and the beautiful Julia Morgan home, the Wilson House, here in Vallejo.

Kastner will pull from her noted biography as she introduces Julia Morgan as a pioneering architect and a captivating individual. Kastner’s research for her book draws heavily on interviews, letters, and Morgan’s diaries, including never-before-seen reflections on faith, art, and her life experiences. It will cover Morgan’s friendship with Hearst, her passion for California’s landscape, and her devotion to architecture that reveal her to have been a singularly brilliant and determined artist.

A book signing by Kastner will directly follow the lecture. You can purchase Julia Morgan: An Intimate Biography of the Trailblazing Architect at the event or beforehand at Alibi Bookshop located at 624 Marin in downtown Vallejo.
