“Open Mare Island” Self-Guided Tours

"Open Mare Island" Self-Guided Tours

Walk through 142 years of Mare Island Naval Shipyard history. Join this free touring event as you follow a printed driving & walking guide through Mare Island, stopping at docent-staffed key sites located at:

  • St. Peter’s Chapel
  • Alden Park
  • Historic Core
  • Naval Cemetery @ the Preserve

Start at Quarters Coffee House to pick up your tour map and enjoy a cup of coffee, compliments of Mare Island Co. There will also be sites included that are on a driving tour of the island.
