The Forest Service is partnering with Artiszen Cultural Arts Center to present an art exhibition entitled Imaginary Landscapes.which will feature four Bay Area artists working in this theme including local artist Jeff Snell who has been working on a sculpture that will span one whole wall of the Artiszen gallery. The “scenes” in these works reinvent the past, re-create the present or reveal a vision of the future. Even the most abstract images remind us of the natural world in some uncanny way. Is this work of the artist or viewer? We hope this show will lead you to reflect on the landscapes in your own mind.

Visions of the Wild is an annual festival presented by the United States Forest Service, whose Pacific Southwest Regional Headquarters are located on Mare Island in Vallejo, California. The festival will take place in downtown Vallejo September 6th through 10th, 2017.

The festival features films, speakers, and field trips, as well as the art exhibitions, all designed around the festival theme. This year’s theme, Changing Landscapes, explores the ways in which our human and natural have changed over time, and where they may go in the future. Topics include the changing climate (as it relates to factors like fire or flooding), restoration of local ecosystems, how our environment shapes human relations, and even landscapes of the imagination.
