Friday Maker Nights – with Vallejo’s own Obtainium Works!!
This is a free addition to our programming and included with your ticket to Nightmare Island. The presentation will be in the Visitor’s Center.
Obtainium Works is the home of a group of tinkerers, gearheads, and steampunk fabricators who love to build art cars and put on events featuring them!
The premiere art car factory in the North Bay, Obtainium Works uses recycled or repurposed materials to fabricate art cars and related art pieces. Home of the Neverwas Haul, a 3-story Victorian house on wheels, this group of tinkerers, gearheads, and steampunk fabricators also put on events such as the Obtainium Cup Rally (pedal-powered vehicle rally with multiple challenges), and the Mad Hatter Holiday Festival Parade. The Crew are a staple at the Maker Faires and their contraptions are staples at Burning Man.
Join us as Shannon and Kathy O’Hare from Obtainium regale us with stories and a slide show of the found objects, junk, and true treasures they have combined into one of a kind art cars, sculptures, and the wearable art they and the Crew create. Maybe we can even convince them to bring over a couple examples of their contraptions!
