Reggae Legend Earl Zero (Inducted into the Reggae Hall of Fame). Singer/songwriter Earl “Zero” Johnson played a crucial role in the roots age, releasing powerful cultural numbers whose dramatic lyrics were often combined with tough militant backings from the Soul Syndicate band. His most beloved song, “None Shall Escape the Judgement,” is an acknowledged classic. During his legendary career Zero joined Bertram Brown’s “Freedom Sounds” for the release of ‘Get Happy’ and was reunited with Al Campbell for ‘Heart Desire’. In the following years, his output remained steady: ‘Visions Of Love’, ‘Pure And Clean’, ‘Shackles And Chains’, ‘Jah Guide’ and ‘Blackbird’ earned him cult status. Then he recorded with the Soul Syndicate, featuring Carlton ‘Santa’ Davis, George ‘Fully’ Fullwood, Tony Chin and Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith, who also produced the session. He now lives in Vallejo California and has a reputation as a leading artist on the region’s reggae scene.
