Hola a todos! The Latinx Medical Student Association proudly presents: 2019 Día de Los Muertos/Day of the Dead Celebration!

Come to Farragut Inn from 5 PM- 7 PM and join us in celebrating and honoring the lives of our departed loved ones with our Community ofrenda that will be on display in the ballroom. We will have music, decorations, food, and opportunities to discuss the traditions of Day of the Dead, an important annual Mexican holiday.

For viewing and appreciating, we will have 3 “ofrendas”, which means offering. “Ofrendas” are also called altars, in which people honor and celebrate their ancestors, not to be mistaken for worship, it is a celebration. One ofrenda will honor the lives of the children lost at the border and detention camps while in custody of Customs and Border Protection and I.C.E. Another ofrenda will honor the lives of the trans people of color we have lost over the past year in the U.S., which will be created with the help of our friends in Solano AIDS Coalition and Rainbow Health Coalition.

The last altar will be our Community Ofrenda. Those from the Vallejo AND Touro Community are invited to bring photos, objects, memorabilia, favorite items, etc. of those you would like to honor on our Community Ofrenda!

We would like to invite members of the Touro Community, as well as the Greater Vallejo community to attend this wonderful event. Please feel free to post here or message with any concerns or questions!
