Please join us for our 7th annual Mother’s Day Cream Tea served in the historic Rowser Garden at the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve!
This simple tea that includes scones served with clotted cream and strawberry jam is free with no reservations required. The Preserve parking, main trailhead and visitor center is located at the intersection of Railroad Ave. and 167 O’Hara Court on Mare Island in Vallejo (1595 Railroad Ave). The public is welcome to visit the Preserve free of charge, although donations help keep the parkland open to the public.
“Last year we hosted about 75 folks including moms and their families at the Rowser Garden”, said tea organizer and volunteer Preserve manager Myrna Hayes. “The Rowser Garden is about a half a mile up the main paved trail and overlooks the Carquinez and Mare Island Straits. We encourage people to come early for the 20-minute walk from our visitor center. We expect some guests will have mobility limitations, so we will let a limited number of cars drive to the Garden”, she continued.
Volunteers are invited to help set up tables and chairs in the Garden on Saturday and to set tables, prepare tea and serve on Sunday.
