Kayak Practice and Fun – Benicia Paddle

We’re going to have fun paddling in Benicia this Sunday! Since this is open water on the Carquinez Strait, this paddle is not for first time paddlers. Only those who have practiced self-rescue, please.

We will put in at Ninth Street Park on Sunday at 9 AM. Bring your own kayak and gear or comment below that you would like to use club equipment. This club survives on donations, so if you can, a suggested $10 donation is greatly appreciated, but no one is turned away for lack of funds.

There is a boat ramp and a beach for putting in. We will paddle along, and explore the shoreline. There are little islands to check out. There is no planned route, just explore the coast.

Please wear synthetic clothes that drip dry, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. To use club equipment, please comment below and let us know if you want to borrow a kayak, canoe or SUP (stand up paddleboard). The club also provides the paddle, and PFD (Personal Floatation Device / life vest).

This group meets at various locations around Vallejo: Mare Island Straight, Napa River, or at Cunningham pool or Lake Chabot for Safety training and practice. Meeting times are sometimes adjusted to take advantage of the tide.

Visit the Kayaking Biking group on Facebook to find out where the next outing will take place, or sign up for the mailing lis at http://www.kayakvallejo.com/sign-up.html.

  • Bring your kayak, PFD, and gear, or we will provide you with what you need free of charge to help you decide what is best for you.
  • Please wear non cotton clothing and a change of clothing in case you get wet.
  • Bring $2 – $10 to help us continue the effort plus a snack to share.

Training videos and information about other Kayaking opportunities are posted on the Vallejo Kayaking Biking group on Facebook .
