We are launching from Sandy Beach Vallejo, which is at the end of Sandy Beach rd. Since the tide is slack at 11 am, we can paddle the Napa River towards the Vallejo Waterfront and back catching the sites in between, plus maybe check out the sandy beach at Mare Island.
Since you must have at least “Assisted Rescue” training for the Napa River trips, please only sign up if you have done this with us, or experienced in Rescue from another time. You must be able to get back in your boat from the water. We need to require this because of safety. You can always demonstrate this when we paddle at Lake Chabot, or the pool.
We will launch at Sandy Beach as long as the wind is under 15 MPH, and if it is not, we will launch at Lake Chabot and paddle there. There will be at least 4 experienced kayakers on this trip to make sure all goes smooth. Thank you Scot, Both Kens, and Shamus!
This group meets at various locations around Vallejo: Mare Island Straight, Napa River, or at Cunningham pool or Lake Chabot for Safety training and practice. Meeting times are sometimes adjusted to take advantage of the tide.
- Bring your kayak, PFD, and gear, or we will provide you with what you need free of charge to help you decide what is best for you.
- Please wear non cotton clothing and a change of clothing in case you get wet.
- Bring $2 – $10 to help us continue the effort plus a snack to share.
Training videos and information about other Kayaking opportunities are posted on the Vallejo Kayaking Biking group on Facebook .
