A one-night only art show hosted by artist Jeff Snell will be held at the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve on Friday, October 7. Originally from Maryland and influenced by the outdoors, Snell’s work frequently reflects the movements of his surroundings.
His pieces feature a variation of textures, and are developed with distinct tools and several applications of material. Snell described his work by saying, “These paintings are about reading…full of intriguing information only visible from close viewing. The arrangement of each painting corrals together a feeling of a personal history, where random passages of imagery congeal and develop into something different for each viewer.”
Intrigued by the long-standing ammunition bunkers, Snell decided to use the bunker to showcase his work. The event will feature Snell’s latest paintings from the “Carny” series, and will be open to the public. This free event will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held at the Mare Island Preserve, Bunker #13, located at 1595 Railroad Ave. To learn more about Jeff Snell, visit his website.
