Jazz Remedy is pleased to be bring the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble back to Vallejo for another wonder-filled concert. This year, multi-percussion icon, Kahil El’Zabar, is touring with long-time band member, Corey Wilkes on trumpet, and amazing baritone saxophonist, Alex Harding.

These players are much more than accomplished jazz musicians. The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble creates music endowed with an authentic pedigree that urges to push the boundaries of creative music into the soulful heart of fresh expression!

Kahil El’Zabar: multi-percussion & voice. Considered by his peers to be one of the most prolific innovators of his generation. He has recorded more than sixty well-received projects, and won numerous international awards as a musician and composer. In 2014, Dr. El’Zabar was knighted by the Counsel General of France, and christened
as a “Chevalier Medal of Letters”. In 2012, President Barack Obama’s administration awarded him the International Ambassador’s Award in the Arts.

He has played with Dizzy Gillespie, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Cannonball Adderley, Paul Simon, David Murray to name a few. He has scored successful feature films: How You Like Me Now (Warner Brothers), Mo Money (Columbia Pictures), and Love Jones (New Line Cinema). He also scored arrangements for the theatrical version of Disney’s The Lion King.

Corey Wilkes: trumpet.
