In this introduction to mosaic art 2 day class we will be focusing on Pique Assiette. Pique Assiestte is a style of mosaic that incorporates pieces of broken ceramics—plates, dishes, cups, tiles—and other found objects into the design. On the first day of the class Vallejo mosaic artist Sherry Tobin will lecture and provide demonstrations on Pique Assiette Mosaics. Participants will become acquainted with the materials and tools, and will make their own 6″x6″ Pique Assiette Mosaic Tile. On the second day of the class Sherry will lecture and provide demonstrations on grouting the 6″x6″ Pique Assiette Mosaic Tiles. Each participant will then grout their own tile and take it home. If you can’t attend the second day, You can take your piece home with supplies to grout it yourself or Sherry can grout it for you in the second class during the grouting demo.
