Historic Mare Island Navy Cemetery Tour

This is part of our series of Docent Kyle Green’s 2nd Saturday tours of the Historic Mare Island Navy Cemetery.  Please give us a call at 707-241-4285 if you have any questions about the tours!

The cemetery on Mare Island is the Navy’s oldest cemetery in the West, with graves there dating back to the 1850’s.

If you are coming out for the Historic Mare Island Navy Cemetery Tour, we will be meeting at the cemetery, which is just a few hundred feet up the trail from the parking area and Visitor’s Center. Driving Directions are at the end of this description.

We will be offering two tours, one starting at 12pm, and the other at 1pm. Realistically, 40 people is the maximum number at this time for each tour. If there are more than 40 people that arrive BY NOON for the first tour, we will ask folks who arrive after that to join us for the 2nd tour at 1pm. We hope you understand, and we will try to accommodate everyone. **If more people show up, we will add another tour, starting at 2pm.

More Information:
Docent Kyle Green (better known to some of you as his alter-ego, “The Undertaker,” host of the annual NightMARE Island Halloween event), will be making one of his rare daytime appearances, to share his knowledge of and enthusiasm for this historic cemetery.

The event is free, but your donations to the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve are always encouraged, and help keep the park going.
