One of the largest inland regattas in the U.S., the Vallejo/San Francisco International Yacht Race, also known as the Great Vallejo Race, will be held on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7. This two-day event is organized and sponsored by the Yacht Racing Association (YRA) of San Francisco Bay and the Vallejo Yacht Club. The event typically draws over 200 boats each year, testing their skills on the beautiful yet challenging courses and competing for one of the event’s prizes. On Saturday, May 6 the racing area will begin at Berkeley Circle and end at the Vallejo Yacht Club, covering a distance of more than 20 miles, and the first warning signal is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. On Sunday, May 7 the racing area will begin at the Vallejo Yacht Club and conclude less than 20 miles later at Southampton Shoals, with the first warning signal scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Participants will compete in one of seven divisions, based on the type of boat they will race, such as sportboat or multihull.
