Cultivate Community Food Co-op (CCFC), a group of citizens from Benicia and Vallejo engaged in gathering local support to launch Solano County’s first community-owned, natural grocery store, is sponsoring this movie screening, “Food for Change.”
(Suggested donation: $5)
“This movie tells the story about how co-ops can inspire and build communities,” says Paula Schnese, founder of Cultivate Community Food Co-op. “We need a brick and mortar grocer dedicated to providing high-quality, locally-sourced products. It’s good for our community, it’s good for our bodies, and we’re hoping that this film will inspire more around us to join our movement. We need help and support.”
CCFC invites the community for an evening celebrating food cooperatives. The event includes a panel discussion, community open forum, the film screening, a raffle and more.
BRING YOUR PICNIC BLANKET! Event organizers also encourage attendees to pick-up food at Dianna’s Bakery and Cafe Deli, across the street from the Capitol, then eat on the grass next to the Capitol. Dianna’s will stay open until 6:30 p.m. and will donate 10% of their proceeds to Cultivate Community Food Co-op.
